Babushka With Hen

Mother Hen is handformed and handpainted by Marietta artist Marlene Rudginsky. The process of glazing Mother Hen includes four firings in the kiln. Because this piece is not made from a mold, it truly is a one of a kind. Marlene credits her inspiration for the babushkas to her growing up as a child in an ethnic neighborhood in Montreal, Canada. Mother Hen is fashioned after a memory of a chicken that she got as a gift for Easter.
